Many local businesspeople acknowledged that meetingas are still an important part of doing and face-to-face interactions are best for buildint relationships with employees and clients. But they are also finding ways to best usetheirr resources, including their time and theier people, more efficiently and effectively during the economic downturn. And that involves changing up thestandard “Meetings cost money — you’re shutting your company down,” said Alex Bloom, president of Velaro, a Columbiaw company that sells subscriptions to live chat technology often used in customer service.

Larry Friedman, Michael Irvin's told the Dallas Business Journal Wednesday that the lawsuitg is completely bogus andwithout merit. Friedman said Irvihn met with the plaintiffs, and they had no businesxs cards, no company, no stationery and worked outside the industrg withoutsubstantial contacts.

In the the plaintiffs say they were escorted out of aMarch 10, 2008, deal signinh meeting at the Dallas law officeds of Friedman & Fiegler LLP in which Larry Friedmab was present. Their attorney, Larry was attending the meeting via aconferencre call.
When they were brought back into the the plaintiffs were told that Irvin wouldd have to review the deal memo before Days later, they learned that Irvin would only agre e to a 95-5 percent split with Irvin taking a 95 percent cut, and five days afte r that Irvin sent an e-mail to Clark statinhg that he had never used the storyboards in his presentation to Jones, according to the lawsuit. The three individuals who planned to produce the show are suing Irvin claiming in theirt suit thatIrvin “through his agents, and/or employees, made false and materiao misrepresentations to plaintiffs concerning his agreement to the termds of the deal memo, includinv the 75-25 percent split.

The Scottsdale company, which received a $100 milliobn investment last yearfrom Dublin-basefd NTR plc, is moving quickly to capturew a segment of the utility-scalee solar market with its Stirling engines technology. The company opened its new 37,000-square-foo t office in early May. It has hired abou t 100 employees this year and expects to add 60 to 80 more by the end of the for a totalof 180, said CEO Stevre Cowman, who joined the firm last year as part of NTR’s “We’ve always liked the solar and this was a good opportunity,” he The company is based on a nearly 200-year-old engine design, which operates througjh the expansion and contractioh of gases.
Stirling uses a 40-foot mirrored dish to focua the sun’s rays to heat hydrogen gas to 1,40p0 degrees Fahrenheit. The gas moving a piston and powering the As thegas cools, it is movedf out of the piston chamber and back to whered it will be reheated by the sun. The company had been operatint in the Valleysince 1996, but NTR’s investmentg has pushed it to develop the technolog more quickly. It has two power-purchase agreements: one with San Diego Gas Electric for between 300 and 750 megawatts at a site inImperialo Valley, Calif., and one with Southern Californiaw Edison for 500 to 900 megawatts in the Mohave Desert.

To handlse project management, NTR founded Tessera Solar earlier this year to develolthe utility-scale projects, with Stirling providing the equipment.
