The Gloversville hospital filed a certificated of need application with the state Health Department earlier this montjh seeking approval forthe $3.1 millionm plan. At about the same time, U.S. Rep. Paul Tonkl and Sen. Charles Schumer introducee appropriations bills in their respective housesseeking $1 millionb to help finance the project. Laurence Kelly, CEO of Natha n Littauer, said the projecg does not hinge on thefederal funding—thwe hospital recently completed a $4 million capital campaign—but “itf would be nice.” The plan calls for the ER to be renovatee and enlarged, from 5,000 square feet to abougt 10,000 square feet.
